Hello Everyone! This week was a lot of fun! It felt so nice to be back this week, as I was away sick for 3 days last week. The class has been working very hard and we were so lucky to have an amazing music teacher come in to visit us twice this week! Mrs. Fisher is helping us to prepare for a Christmas concert this December. She helped us to practice our song and also helped us figure out how we should stand on the stage for our song. I think many kids are feeling nervous about it but I think they will have fun overall! My apologies if they are singing our song at home, it will DEFINITELY get stuck in your head!
Here are some other highlights from our week:
we have been practicing sight words that we've worked on for the last several weeks
we prepared and practiced for writing a Math assessment where students had to independently show what they could do to represent a number
we began writing journal entries which we will do once a week. This will focus on writing sentences, sentence structure and punctuation
we have been really enjoying the poetry of Shel Silverstein and the students always ask for more poems
to prepare for winter, we did a cute little toque craft for our hallway bulletin board which makes a great display! (See picture below!)
Next week, we have a skating field trip! This is always a great time for our students! There will be an email coming out shortly which will ask whether or not your child needs skate or helmet (or both!) rentals, as well as if there are any parents who are able and willing to volunteer to help get skates tied/untied and to enjoy the morning with us!
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Parkinson
