Hello everyone!

We had a great week at school this week! We worked collaboratively on a display for the Terry Fox assembly next Friday afternoon, which will be a beautiful decoration for our whole school to enjoy during the assembly! We also read a poem about Terry Fox, as well as watched a couple videos! I've added one below for you to see!

Here are some other highlights of things we've worked on this week:

  • We made it to 10 minutes of focused reading time (looking at the words and pictures in books without getting tired or giving up)

  • we practiced a new story called Cam and Sam this week, which focused on the letter C sound, as well as rhyming words and word family words

  • Other students practiced their Read Naturally stories and many were able to move onto a new story independently!

  • we practiced building patterns with various materials, such as shape blocks, linking cubes, coin cards and bugs!

  • we practiced writing and sounding out words using independent and guided writing time

  • we also had a fire drill this week! We talked about the importance of leaving all our things behind to get to safety quickly. Our class did a GREAT job!

  • Using individual mini clocks, we began to learn about telling time to the hour

What a busy week we had! Our class has really been working hard and the students are adjusting well to the routines of Grade 1/2.

Enjoy your weekend!
